This Day That Age
Dr. Graham, U.N. Representative for Kashmir, has concluded his first round of talks with the Indian leaders in New Delhi and is leaving for Karachi on January 17 to continue his mission in Pakistan. He is expected back in Delhi after a week. Although India has not accepted the Security Council resolution which authorised Dr. Graham to put forward proposals for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir problem, Indian leaders have conferred with the U.N. Representative, as they had done on several occasions in the past. The reason given for this attitude is that India would not wish to hamper anyone’s efforts to find a peaceful solution. Dr. Graham’s first task is to determine how the implementation of the two resolutions of the Kashmir Commission, to which both sides are parties, got stuck.
