dated January 17, 1958: Communal harmony

The Secretariat of the All-India Congress Committee is preparing a list of important active Congress workers with a view to organising work amongst minorities and also trying to promote bringing together of people of different communities on non-communal platforms, according to the report prepared for presentation to the current Gauhati session. It has been decided that the workers should be drawn from all communities so that “in course of time the difference between the majority and minority communities might cease to exist." The department is now preparing itself for “intensifying its work in the rural areas in the current year.”
