MUMBAI: Arjuna awardee Viren Rasquinha (27) opted for management studies over sport by announcing his retirement from international hockey on Tuesday. He is doing a one-year Masters in Business Administration at the Indian School of Business (Hyderabad).
The Indian Oil midfielder donned the National colours at the 2006 World Cup, 2004 Athens Olympics and was a member of the 2001 Junior World Cup-winning squad.
He will continue playing for IOC after completing management studies. Reputed for man-marking ability and adaptability under different coaches, Rasquinha represented Stuttgart Kickers in the 2007 German hockey league and captained Maratha Warriors in the PHL 2007-08. — Special Correspondent
