Phagwara: Four Non-Resident Indians were feted by an educational institution here on Wednesday for their outstanding contribution to education and other social fields. The NRIs felicitated by the management of the local Guru Nanak College were Canada-based Onkar Singh Basra and Baljit Singh Basra, Jasbir Singh from the UK and Harjit Singh Bains from Spain. The four Indians had floated a philanthropic body Phagwara Welfare Association abroad, named after their town. The body had contributed Rs 20 lakh to develop a modern mortuary here besides donating Rs 3 lakh to the college to upgrade the infrastructure and standard of education.
