Experts had come from Arsikere to conduct the show. The accident occurred when a variety of firecrackers was lit. Instead of going in the air, they exploded in the ground and before I could realise what had happened, I experienced severe pain in my legs and was bleeding,” Kenchappa Shambanna Vaddar (21) of Kanavalli said here on Wednesday. He has been admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospital . He and eight others who suffered severe burns had been brought to KIMS Hospital for treatment. The injuries to Prabhaiah Holebasaiah Mannurmath of Sooranagi village in Shirahatti taluk of Gadag district were comparatively less severe. “The incident occurred around 3.30 a.m.,” he said. According to hospital sources, the injured are out of danger. Although sacrificing animals during jatras has been banned, a buffalo was sacrificed at the jatra.
