NEW DELHI: Concerned over delay in arrival of flights carrying Haj pilgrims from Saudi Arabia in the second phase of the Haj, the Civil Aviation Ministry has asked Air India to notify a detailed schedule indicating the plan for delivery of the baggage and Zam Zam water of the Hajis. The delivery plan, to be prepared within a day by Air India, will be furnished to the Ministry and the Haj Committee of India. It will be displayed at all disembarkation points. After a review meeting of Haj operations here on Wednesday, convened by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and attended by the Haj Committee and Air India officials, it was decided that the Ministry will coordinate with the Saudi Arabian Airlines to facilitate the drawing up of a similar plan for delivery of baggage and Zam Zam water. Mr. Patel suggested that Air India should go in for a long-term lease of wide-bodied aircraft with a view to ensuring timely availability of suitable aircraft as well as to bring down the cost of the Haj operations.
