KOCHI: Kochi’s Central Excise, thriving on some wily play by the seasoned Sunny Thomas, defeated Chennai Customs 86-55 and retained the men’s basketball title in the Central Revenue South Zone championship at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday. The match between a bunch of players well past their prime, was often slow, but Kochi Excise, the Federation Cup champion three years ago, was clearly superior. Kochi Customs defeated Hyderabad Income Tax in straight sets and won the men’s volleyball title and in football, host Kerala’s Central Excise will meet Chennai Customs in the final on Thursday at the Thevara’s Sacred Heart College Stadium.
