Yefremov to coach India

NEW DELHI: The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) has stated that it has got the approval of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to have Aleksey Yefremov of Belarus as the coach of the Indian team for the preparation for the Commonwealth Games.

Yefremov, who has been initially hired for a year, will watch the 69th National championship at Siliguri from January 27 to February 2.

Meanwhile, it was also decided following a meeting of the TTFI officials with the Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), to extend the contract of the Chinese coach Yin Wei, till December 2008.

He will be training the players for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune.
