CBI gets more time to file report in Tytler case

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday was granted some more time by a court here to file the investigation report in the anti-Sikh riots case registered against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.

While the CBI was supposed to file the investigation report in the case on Wednesday, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanjeev Jain asked the agency to submit it on March 12.

Petition by witness

The CBI counsel argued that the agency had been asked by the Delhi High Court to respond on February 27 to a petition filed by key witness Jasbir Singh. Earlier, Jasbir Singh had filed a petition before the High Court seeking quashing of a notice issued against him that required him to be physically present before the investigating agency. He had also expressed his willingness to record his testimony through video conferencing from the US where he is currently based.
