Good news for cardiac patients

2-D colour doppler installed at GGH

Kakinada: People suffering from heart diseases have some good news to be elated with. The 2-D colour doppler equipment installed at the Government General Hospital (GGH) is what brings them cheer as the advanced equipment costing Rs 20 lakh, gives accurate report of the condition of the heart, whether it has any holes, strength of the muscles and any other ailment that affects the vital organ. This facility will be useful for the people of both East and West Godavari districts and the diagnosis is done free of cost for the poor people and beneficiaries of Arogyasri scheme. Government General Hospital cardiologist doctor P.V.V. Satyanarayana had undergone special training in operating the doppler, at Mediciti Hospital, Hyderabad.

Inaugurating the equipment on Tuesday, District Collector M. Subrahmanyam said steps were being taken to augment the medical infrastructure in the GGH and other hospitals in the district and the doppler was a part of the endeavour.

GGH superintendent Surya Kumari said the doppler equipment was Italian manufacture and it has provisions to diagnose both adults and children.
