Paswan launches new scheme for kids, women

Prashant Pandey

DANTEWADA (CHHATTISGARH): The Union Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ram Vilas Paswan, has launched “Grameen Pushti Yojna” aimed at providing nutritional food to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers in the villages of this district.

Giving away the food packets, Mr. Paswan expressed happiness over the programme and hoped that other organisations would take up such initiatives.

Blended food

To be financed by the National Mineral Development Corporation and the State and to be implemented by the United Nations World Food Programme, the programme began in about 35 villages on Tuesday and would cover all the villages of Dantewada in due course.

The programme involves giving away fortified blended food that would contain wheat, soya, vitamins and mineral to children and women.
