The dialysis block, named after T.S. Santhanam (of TVS Group), was inaugurated by Viji Santhanam, Chairman, Sundaram Finance Limited.

D.K. Srinivasan, secretary of the hospital, said Professor Varadhan was the principal donor for the cardiothoracic block, just as Sundaram Finance was for the T.S. Santhanam Block, which has six dialysis units.

The hospital charged a nominal sum of Rs.200 per sitting from people for dialysis, Mr. Srinivasan said. Mr. Viji Santhanam said despite best efforts, it was not possible for the government to fulfill its obligations to meet the requirements of the people on public health and education and hence the private sector had to contribute.
