“G.O. 901 is aimed at sending out a strong message to people that deviations and unauthorised constructions come at a high premium. In any case, the High Court has directed the government to penalise building owners for violating the approved plans, based on which the G.O. has been issued. Many back and forth deliberations preceded the issuance of the G.O. The honourable court is very clear that this time it should be penalisation and regulation, and not ‘Building Regularisation Scheme’. We are here to implement the government orders.”
