Raid conducted, man held for illicit sale

Personnel of the city prohibition enforcement wing police conducted surprise check on Wednesday and arrested a couple of persons on charge of selling liquor illegally in two separate places.

The police arrested Kaleeswaran (25) of Ponnagar selling government liquor bottles near the TASMAC shop at Uyyakondantirumalai. The police seized 25 bottles from him.

In another incident, the police seized 44 other state liquor bottles and liquor bottles meant for defence personnel from Jayaraj (48) of Gandhimarket area. He was also taken into custody.
