Meet urges all parties to unitedly oppose SRC
‘Only way to achieve Telangana is to resort to peaceful ‘Jail bharo’ agitation’ TRS MLA Nayani Narasimha Reddy claims that Telangana State will materialise only after 2009
HYDERABAD: Speakers at a round-table meet on second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC) impressed upon different political parties to unitedly oppose the move and pressure the Centre to concede a separate Telangana State.
At a meeting organised by Telangana Journalists Forum here on Wednesday, BJP leader Ch. Vidyasagar Rao questioned the need to constitute the second SRC when the fate of smaller States could be decided by implementing Article 3 of the Constitution. He said the only way to achieve Telangana was to resort to peaceful ‘Jail bharo’ agitation.
The meeting witnessed protests from the audience, when the TRS MLA Nayani Narasimha Reddy and BSP general secretary Vidyasagar claimed that Telangana State would materialise only after 2009. Some said that lack of unity among the Telangana protagonists was being exploited by opponents of the separate statehood. Gopal Reddy of Telangana Development Forum, Supreme Court advocate Nirup Reddy, Editor, Voice of Telangana Panduranga Reddy, Telangana Journalists Forum Pasham Yadagiri and Allam Narayana also spoke.
