SHRC issues warrant against GHMC official

HYDERABAD: The State Human Rights Commission has on Wednesday issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against GHMC chief medical officer Ravinder Rao and directed Central Zone DCP to execute it by January 23.
The SHRC took a serious view of the non-payment of salary to a person appointed as a coordinator for the GHMC for five months. When notices were issued to the GHMC on the issue, Dr. Ravindra Rao appeared for the GHMC and agreed to pay the salaries, but sought some more time. The Commission said that delay in payment of the salary was in violation of the Human Rights Act and it deemed that ‘such negligence by the CMO was deliberate and therefore ordered issuance of the NBW.
