State fares well in annual status of education

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh was in the forefront of all States with a 15 per cent growth in language development, particularly reading abilities of children in Classes 3, 4 and 5 in the current year. Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Punjab trailed behind A.P.
This was disclosed in the annual status of education brought out by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The report was released by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia at New Delhi on Wednesday.
A press release of Rajiv Vidya Mission Minister M. Hanumantha Rao here said the report highlighted that only 4.2 per cent children were left to be enrolled by schools. Teachers were posted in cent per cent schools as against 2.1 per cent schools left uncovered by them last year.
