HYDERABAD: Rebel Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLAs have said the party president K. Chandrashekhar Rao had disowned them by excluding them from among the MPs, MLAs and MLCs who would resign in the event of the Congress failing to announce steps to create separate Telangana by March 6. Nine MLAs against whom the TRS leadership has appealed to Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy to disqualify them have asked how the case was justified when Mr. Rao spoke excluding them. Most of them refused to react to Mr. Rao’s announcement, as their case was pending before the Speaker, but Sangareddy MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy said the TRS chief was resorting to foul tactics against the Congress. He said Mr. Rao took the stand in the initial years of formation of TRS that the party’s presence in statutory bodies would strengthen the case for separate Telangana. However, he was now using resignations as a weapon. Mr. Reddy said none of the parties represented in Parliament would support TRS because of its inconsistent policies. Mr. Rao owed an explanation on which parties would rally behind TRS, he said. ChargesHe also said Mr. Rao was trying to cash in on the poor political awareness of people of the region. He wanted to exploit it in the next elections. There was no change in the stand of the Congress on constituting the second States Reorganisation Commission. However, Mr. Rao had misled people that the Congress had agreed to concede separate Telangana without recourse to SRC.
