Sheila praises Bhagidari office-bearers

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday said that office-bearers under the Bhagidari scheme had contributed immensely towards making the Government transparent and accountable and changing the picture of the Capital.

Ms. Dikshit was holding a meeting with representatives of Residents’ Welfare Association Federation and Joint Front at Delhi Secretariat to discuss issue relating to water, electricity, transport and the Bhagidari movement. The Chief Minister said the feedback received from residents’ welfare associations’ representatives would prove crucial in improving public utility services. She said a separate meeting of senior officers would be convened to chalk out a plan of action on suggestions and difficulties submitted by the RWAs. Representatives of RWAs presented a number of suggestions which included provision of playgrounds for children, pruning of trees, parking problems and formal legal status for their RWAs.
