KOCHI: Delegates at the CPI district convention continued to criticise the ‘inefficiency’ and ‘lack of direction’ of the LDF government on the second day on Wednesday. In the discussions on the political report, which was presented on Tuesday, many party delegates found fault with the government’s functioning and even described the government as the ‘worst government’ Kerala ever had. The delegates did not spare even CPI Ministers and criticised them for bungling and misstatements. The delegates session, which was opened on Tuesday by State secretary Veliyam Bhargavan, witnessed sharp criticism of the CPI(M) for its ‘big-brotherly’ attitude. Speakers pointed out that the internal feud in the CPI(M) had paralysed governance and brought bad reputation to the LDF. Re-electedMundakkayam Sadasivan was elected district secretary of the CPI Ernakulam district committee here on Wednesday. This is the third time that Mr. Sadasivan is being elected to the post. Mr. Bhargavan, in his opening remarks, had called for the reunification of the Communist parties. He said that reunification was needed for the country’s sake, and not for the parties’ sake. He said that there were no differences of opinion between the Communist parties (meaning the CPI and the CPI(M)), but certain leaders were not bold enough to agree that there were no differences. The convention, which began on Monday, will conclude on Thursday with a rally and a public meeting.
