Teachers to prepare special notes for weak students

Plan chalked out to review syllabus in 40 days


ANANTAPUR: In its pursuit for improving the SSC results this year and place Anantapur among the top ten districts, the district administration has taken up a multi-pronged approach. Besides rigorous training on tackling the exam, students are also being counselled on how to overcome pressure.

An exercise was done classifying the tenth-class students into A, B, C and D groups last month based on their performance till the half-yearly examinations.

The A and B grade students would only concentrate on improvement of their score, while the C grade students would ensure that they would not fail.Teachers, particularly in mathematics, science and English subjects, have been told to concentrate to shore up D grade students.

Teams of three expert teachers in each of the seven subjects, the science being split into physics and biology groups, have been selected from each of the six divisions in the district.

After a daylong brain-storming session, the 126 teachers selected as resource persons have prepared special notes, subject-wise, keeping in view the D grade students. The remaining teachers have also been given training to prepare the students for the exams.

Analysis of results

Later, an analysis of the results of the last three years was done and it was found that of the 19,823 had failed students, 16,347 faltered with five marks difference and another 2,718 students had failed by one mark each. Collector N. Sridhar had written letters to headmasters of all high schools explaining the statistics and the difference they can make with a little more concentration. Accordingly,

District Common Examinations Board set up for the purpose had chalked out a plan to review the syllabus in 40 days from January 2 to February 23. As per the plan, special teaching is being done in four chosen subjects every day for two hours each and a test conducted at the end. Thus, 102 special classes have been planned along with 41 tests. Rapthadu mandal has been selected for 100 per cent results campaign and a three-day orientation camp for the students of all high schools in the mandal at Gondireddypalli village last week.
