Career guidance site

The district-level centre for career guidance and counselling of the Department of Higher Secondary Education, launched a Web site for career guidance and coaching for entrance tests.

The Web site (www.indiastudychannel.

com) was inaugurated by K. Sudha, State coordinator for career guidance and counselling, at a meeting held at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam, recently. District co-ordinator C.A. Bijoy and project manager Timmy M. John spoke.

K.M. Sivaraman, school Principal, presided. The district centre organises career conferences, career exhibitions and workshops on personality development. Details can be had at Ph: 94478 13059.

Destination conservation

A bio-shield was developed by the Tourism Club of the MKM Higher Secondary School for protecting the Pazhoor Manalpuram. Seedlings of mangroves were planted as part of the creation of bio-shield. M.J. Jacob, MLA, inaugurated the programme. The students took out a cycle rally highlighting the campaign destination conservation. School Principal A.A. Onankunju, teacher coordinator Benny V. Varghese, block panchayat president C.K. Prakash and village panchayat president K.P. Salim attended.

Award in teaching

Sunanda Murali of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Thripunithura, won the first prize in the competition organised by the Vidyodaya Institute of Education Management for teachers in excellence on education. The topic of the competition was promoting creativity in the classroom. The first prize carries a cash prize of Rs.5,000, certificate and citation. Maya Divakar of the Bhavans Varuna Vidyalaya, Thrikkakara, and Elizabeth Jacob of Rajashree SMM School, Kadungalloor, Aluva, won the second and third prizes respectively.
