Basheer birth centenary

KOCHI: The birth centenary of Vaikom Muhammed Basheer will be commemorated with variety of events in the city. The legendary writer had spent more than two decades in the city, starting with his association with a revolutionary organisation fighting for the country’s freedom and ending with his marriage in his early fifties. He had run two book shops which had turned to be a meeting place for writers, actors, musicians and political activists. – Special Correspondent
