MCD gives jobs to 51 daily-wagers

NEW DELHI: In a rare display of benevolence, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has issued appointment letters to 51 daily-wage employees who were dependents of deceased civic body functionaries.

In a statement on Thursday, MCD Standing Committee Chairman Vijender Gupta said: “These people were awaiting appointment for the past seven years. Now they have been appointed as peons or watchmen as it is our policy to provide employment to at least one member of a deceased MCD worker’s family.”
