ALAPPUZHA: Three persons, all natives of Kollam, were killed in an early morning accident near the Convent Square here on Thursday. The deceased were identified as Manoj, 30, Binu, 30, and Raju, 33, all residents of Karikode in Kollam. According to the police, the accident occurred at around 2.30 a.m. when the Scorpio in which the three were returning from Mookambika Temple collided with a bus carrying students of the Thevally Boys Higher Secondary School, Kollam. The students were returning from the State Higher Secondary School Festival in Malappuram after one of their schoolmates, Yedu Krishnan, met with a tragic end during the festival on Wednesday. Two students and one teacher sustained minor injuries in the accident while four other passengers of the Scorpio too reported injuries. Of these, Biju, 28, Ajayakumar, 35, Baiju, 34 and Madhu, 33 were discharged after being administered first aid to return along with the bodies of their co-passengers. The driver of the bus, Mani, and cleaner, Shanmugham, are undergoing treatment at the Alappuzha Medical College.
