Workshop on micro-credit held

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Bank of India Local Head Office, Thiruvananthapuram, organised a one-day workshop on micro-credit here on Tuesday.

It was inaugurated by Bhavan Puri, Chief General Manager, NABARD. Niranjn Parsha General Manager welcomed the participants and Radha Unni, Chief General Manager delivered the presidential address.

Sarada Muraleedharan, Executive Director, Kudumbasree, in her key note address dwelt at length on various issues confronting the poor in Kerala. Vivekanandan, Chief Executive, SIFFS, spoke on the Status of Micro Finance in Kerala.

SBIs new loan product “Financing NGOs for on lending to SHGs” was introduced at the meeting by Hamir Singh, AGM (Micro-credit) State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Mumbai. Features on the new scheme were explained in detail. Major NGOs from the State and all the Regional Managers along with selected branch managers participated in the workshop and took part in the deliberations.

K.A. Salim, Deputy General Manager (Rural Business), replied to the questions raised by the participants.
