Subrata quits as East Bengal coach

KOLKATA: East Bengal coach Subrata Bhattacharya resigned on Wednesday, the team’s poor showing in the I-League probably influencing his decision.

In a letter addressed to the club secretary, Bhattacharya, who assumed charge at the beginning of the season, said he was not physically fit to continue as the coach.

The club appointed former player and coach Manoranjan Bhattacharya for the rest of the season. — Principal Correspondent
