Move comes in the light of TDP’s call for ‘Garjana’ Panel to study budgetary allocations HYDERABAD: The State government is contemplating the idea of announcing a special package for the welfare of Backward Classes (BCs). Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to study the implementation of ongoing welfare and development programmes launched for the BCs. The move comes in the light of increasing demand from BC organisations for enhancement of budget and other provisions for the communities and the Telugu Desam Party’s call for BC Garjana, the proposed public meeting of the BCs at Warangal on January 23. Mukesh Goud to headThe decision to constitute the GoM was announced by the Chief Minister after a meeting with Agriculture Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy on Thursday. The GoM would be headed by BC Welfare Minister M. Mukesh Goud while Mr. Raghuveera Reddy and Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao would be its members. The panel would study issues like budgetary allocations being made for BCs and whether the amount was reaching the targeted beneficiaries effectively. It had been asked to prepare a ‘suitable package’ for the welfare of BCs and submit its report at the earliest so that necessary provisions could be made in the forthcoming budget.
