Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Thursday wrote to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking permission to grant an additional quota of reservation to Gujjars under nomadic category and to Rajputs, Brahmins and Vaishyas under economically backward class (EBC). The Chief Minister has recommended four to six per cent additional quota under akin nomadic category to certain castes including Gujjars, and 10 to 20 per cent to Rajputs, Brahmins, and Vaishyas under EBC, BJP national treasurer Ramdas Agarwal, who is also the Chairman of Gurjar special package committee, told reporters after a party meeting. “We have requested our partymen to spread this message to every one so that any group holding any agitation should approach the Centre to get justice on quota”, Mr. Agarwal said. Meanwhile, the police have rounded up at least a dozen Gujjar leaders including R. S. Biduri from different parts of the State as a preventive measure. PTI
