BJP rules out move to form government in Goa
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday ruled out any effort for the time being from its side to form a government in Goa.
The State’s Congress-led coalition government headed by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has been reduced to a minority with the withdrawal of support by three members of the Nationalist Congress Party and an Independent.
BJP leader L. K. Advani, who was in Bangalore on Thursday to attend a programme to felicitate his former Cabinet colleague George Fernandes, told reporters that he had asked the party’s Goa unit to keep off the issue. Let the Congress solve its problem, he said. “Then, if the situation arises, we may formally consider the issue by discussing in the party’s parliamentary board…. Let us see how things shape up.”
