TD to approach court, submit memo to government Middle class being penalised by the new order HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has described the compulsory disclosure scheme (CDS) on building violations as an ‘anti-people’ measure intended to mop up ‘a few hundred crores’ and demanded that the government keep in abeyance the GOs concerned immediately. At a press conference on Thursday, TDP city president K. Vijayarama Rao said the government announced the scheme without taking the elected representatives and stakeholders into confidence. Calling upon people to boycott the scheme, he said the Telugu Desam would explore all possibilities including the legal recourse in opposing the scheme. It would press for a detailed discussion in the ensuing Assembly session, in addition to submitting a memorandum to the government. Mr. Rao, who spoke at length on the issue, said the scheme was not in public welfare and that the government was adopting an ‘intimidatory’ stand to coerce the middleclass people into paying hefty penalties, which were fixed unilaterally. He felt that the scheme was announced only to favour some people. No actionThe former Minister charged that while the Government was not initiating any action against the officials ‘allowed’ the illegal constructions, the middle class people who unwittingly bought the apartments, were being penalised now. While one of the Ministers had gone on record that money collected through the scheme would be spent for development of the respective areas, there was no such mention in the GO itself. There was ambiguity over earlier Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS). He said courts had earlier taken severe objections to such schemes, the recent one being the Tamil Nadu Supreme Court, which did not approve of such regularisations. TDP city unit leaders Aijaz Ali Qureshi, B.N. Reddy, M.N. Srinivas Rao, Vanam Ramesh and PL. Srinivas were present.
