Chandrababu Naidu HYDERABAD: Telugu Desam party president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday promised a nine-hour uninterrupted free supply of power to the farm sector during daytime and reduction in tariff for the poor in domestic sector. Speaking after releasing the New Year diary of the Telugu Nadu Vidyuth Karmika Sangham, Mr. Naidu said unlike the Congress government which had miserably failed to keep its promise of 12-hour free power supply, the TDP, if it comes to power, would take up all the necessary steps to fulfil these and other promises. “We do not make empty promises or leave them half done. After making tall promises, the free power supply is now being provided in a truncated manner for seven hours that too during night time, saving Rs. 800 crore. Over 2,600 farmers died of snake bites and other night-related power supply problems, ” he said. Not just free power supply, the Government could not fulfil the promise of a review of Power Purchase Agreements and ensure regular supply of gas for power plants, he said. On the electricity employees front too, the Government failed to take care of them properly, Mr. Naidu said. Hundreds of vacancies remained unfilled casting a burden on the existing staff. Tripartite agreement was ignored. The employees’ demand for a job to the field staff dying in harness remained unmet. All these demands would be conceded if TDP comes to power, he added.
