Order hiking award for books issued

CHENNAI: A day after Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi announced that prize money for best books of the year would go up, the Information and Publicity Department issued an order in this regard on Thursday.

The prize money for the best books in 29 categories, which was Rs.10,000 each earlier, is now Rs.20,000 for each category.

It will take effect this year.

The prize money for best publishing house has been enhanced from Rs.2,000 to Rs.5,000. — Special Correspondent
