MACHILIPATNAM: District Collector Navin Mittal on Friday presented awards to best farmers of Krishna district, who produced bumper crop during the previous season, at a function at the Agricultural Market Committee.
The awards were presented on the occasion of Sankranthi celebrated recently. He also presented awards to some officials who excelled in their duties.
Progressive farmers
Mr. Mittal said on the occasion that presentation of awards to the farmers who had set examples in their area of activity would inspire some more farmers to get high yield in paddy and other crops.
The Government had already selected ‘progressive farmers’ in every village and they were given training to improve their technical knowledge in agricultural operations.
The Collector presented ‘best officer’ awards to select officials of agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, animal husbandry, fisheries and Transco.
He also presented awards to the best bank managers of the Indian Bank, the Andhra Bank, the KDCC Bank and Sapthagiri Grameena Bank.
