Stone laid for inter-State bus stand

PALAKKAD: The foundation stone for the first inter-State bus stand in the State was laid by K.K. Divakaran, MLA, near the KSRTC bus stand in the town here on Friday.

The bus stand, to be constructed on the model of the Ukkadam bus stand in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs.25 lakh, will be operational in six months. Fifty bus services will be operated to the neighbouring States from here. The bus stand will have a multi-storey commercial complex. It will be constructed by the Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation (KTDFC) under the Build, Own and Transfer (BoT) basis. V. Devayani, Chairman, Palakkad Municipality, presided over the function. N.N. Krishnadas, MP, spoke.
