Over 1,000 bogus family cards seized

NAMAKKAL: The District Supply officials seized 1,138 bogus family cards in Mallasamudram block recently.
Official sources said that the district supply office received widespread complaints that a few residents were using bogus family cards in the block to get goods under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
On instructions from Collector G. Sundaramurthi, the supply officials conducted a door-to-door verification. They detected 1,138 bogus cards and seized them.
They also found irregularities in the sale of goods under the PDS in a few fair price shops.
Officials warned that stern action would be initiated against salesmen of the shops, if they were found committing irregularities.
