Awaiting help: Applicants standing in the queue at the head post office in Chitradurga on Friday. Chitradurga: The Department of Posts and Telegraph will distribute applications of the Karnataka Public Service Commission and the Union Public Service Commission from its offices itself. Superintendent of Posts G. Eshwarappa told presspersons here on Friday that earlier the forms were available only at cooperative banks, but now on they would be sold through post offices across the State. This service was introduced three years ago, but owing to some problems, it was withdrawn, he said. He said that since the Department of Posts had branches in all taluks, applicants could make use of the facility. He said that so far, around 10,000 applications for the post of Second Division Assistant and 3,890 applications for the post of First Division Assistant had been sold in Chitradurga. Elaborating on other facilities offered by the department, he said a few new schemes such as Instant Money Order Transfer and International Money Transfer had been introduced. The schemes were meant to help students and those involved in business activities in the district. Mr. Eshwarappa said the department had entered into an agreement with the State Bank of India (SBI), Unit Trust of India (UTI) and Reliance Money to sell mutual fund products.
