BANGALORE: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Bangalore, on Thursday decided to constitute a sub-committee to examine demands by various autorickshaw unions in the city for an upward revision of fare. Presiding over the meeting here, RTA Chairman and Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner M.A. Sadiq asked the sub-committee to submit the report at the earliest. While the Deputy Commissioner (Traffic-East), will be the chairman of the sub-committee, the Regional Transport Officer (RTO), Bangalore South (Jayanagar), who is the member-secretary of the RTA, will be its member-secretary. Mr. Sadiq told The Hindu that the sub-committee was formed to scientifically study the demand of autorickshaw unions. Apart from fuel, costs of other inputs had increased, he said. The sub-committee would have to consider public opinion before submitting the report, he added. Bangalore South RTO Rudra Naik said the sub-committee was likely to submit the report before January-end. He said the police as well as the Transport Department personnel would book cases against drivers who collect “revised” fares. FeedbackThe members of public may send in their feedback on the revision demand to the DCP (Traffic-East) at No. 1, Infantry Road, Bangalore 560001, fax 22860787, email – dcptrafficeast@gmail.com — before5.30 p.m., on January 23.
