March from Nandigram to Chengara

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: Medha Patkar, social activist, has alleged that the indifference of the State government towards the struggle for land by hundreds of landless poor under the Sadhu Jana Vimochana Samyukta Vedi at the Kumbazha Estate at Chengara, may lead to a Nandigram-model agitation.

Ms. Patkar was talking to presspersons after a visit to the estate on Friday. She said a popular march would be launched from Nandigram in West Bengal to Chengara on February 26, extending solidarity with the land struggle launched by the landless people in this part of the State. Another march of peasants would be taken out from Narmada Valley to Nandigram prior to the proposed march.
