Minister tells officials to check malpractices in PDS
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Civil Supplies Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy has asked district Collector, officials and elected representatives to evolve a mechanism and also make surprise visits to mandal-level stock points and FP shops to check malpractices and black marketing of rice.
At a review meeting with officials, elected representatives, FP, LPG and Petrol dealers’ associations at the Zilla Parishad Conference hall on Friday, Mr. Reddy said that the reviews beginning with the north Andhra coastal districts being conducted were aimed at preparing ground for strict implementation of Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme from April this year. He warned officials of severe action if any lapses in its implementation were detected. At the same time, he assured FP shop dealers that he would recommend for a hike in commission if the rice scheme were made a success without a complaint from consumers at least three months. He said that he would also appeal to the Chief Minister to consider their request .
