Progressive ryots walk away with ‘Sankranti Puraskarams’

VIZIANAGARAM: Lok Sabha member Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi and Minister for Civil Supplies Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy awarded ‘Sankranti puraskarams’ to the best farmers in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and fisheries at a function at the Collectorate on Friday.

Recipients

The award carried a memento, cash and a shawl.

The recipients are: S. Venkata Murali Krishna (paddy), V. Jagadeesh Kumar (groundnut), V. Balaram Naidu (blackgram), G. Suri Naidu(cotton), M. Eswara Rao (maize), K. Appala Naidu (groundnut), M. Srinivasda Rao (red gram), S. Rama Rao (mesta), Behra Surya Rao (fisheries), Y. Lakshmi Narayana (mango), Ch. Chandra Rao (oil palm), Ch. Krishna Murty (drip irrigation), G.V.G. Sarma (cattle), Botta Satyam (sheep) and P.S.N. Murty (poultry). The officers are: T. Satyanarayana, G. Adinarayana, K. Vijayakumar and B.A. Venkateswara Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Jhansi Lakshmi stressed on the need to adopt modern technology in farming for self-sufficiency and said that bank credit to the tune of Rs. 324 crores was extended to farmers during the current fiscal.

Minister Krishna Reddy appealed to opposition parties to point out mistakes, if any, in the implementation of welfare schemes for rectification instead of magnifying even minor lapses on the part of the government.

He said that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy was treading the path of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi and striving hard for to uplift the poor and downtrodden.
