Convene all-party meet: Chennithala

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has asked Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to convene an all-party meeting to find a solution to the ongoing political violence in Kannur district. He also wanted the Home Department to order the resumption of raids on bomb-manufacturing units in the district.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Chennithala said the latest statistics of the Crime Record Bureau was proof enough of the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. The police force was being misused to protect the CPI(M) interest as a result of which justice was being denied to the ordinary man. He said decisions on framing cases and identifying the accused in criminal cases were being taken at the AKG Centre.
