1.16 crore signatures submitted

HYDERABAD: A delegation of Mana Party, headed by Kasani Gnaneshwar, MLC, on Friday submitted to Governor N. D. Tiwari and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy the 1.16 crore signatures collected recently demanding population-based reservations in legislatures.

Although the political reservations are for all sections of people, including SCs, STs, minorities, the stress was on the backward classes, according to K. Satyanarayana, official spokesman, who is a former MLA.

The delegation submitted 116 boxes containing the signatures in the Governor’s office at Raj Bhavan and later in the Chief Minister’s camp office. Prior to submitting the signatures, party activists took out a rally from Sundarayya Park, to Indira Park.
