REL, RNRL report good performance

NEW DELHI: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani owned Reliance Energy Ltd. (REL) has posted a 50.02 per cent increase in profit after tax at Rs. 301.60 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, as compared to Rs. 201.03 crore for the same quarter in 2006.

According to a company release, the total income for the said quarter increased marginally by 1.81 per cent to Rs. 1,853.41 crore from Rs. 1,820.43 crore.

Similarly, Reliance Natural Resources Limited posted an increase of over 170 per cent in its net profit at Rs. 58 crore for the nine months ended December 31, 2007, as against Rs. 21.50 crore in the year-ago period. The total income for the nine months also increased by 32 per cent to Rs. 217 crore from Rs. 164.90 crore, the release said.

Besides, the cash profit for the nine months stood at Rs. 64.50 crore as against Rs. 28.40 crore in year-ago period. Net worth of the company increased to Rs. 1,719 crore as on December 31. However, net sales of the company declined 44.60 per cent to Rs. 40.73 crore for the reviewed quarter compared to Rs. 73.53 crore for the same period previous year.
