Cross country race

MANGALORE: The Dakshina Kannada District Athletics Association will organise the 41st State-level Sahyadri cross country championship here on January 27.

More than 1,200 athletes from all over Karnataka are expected to participate in the event, which is being organised in association with the district administration and the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The race will start simultaneously from KPT, Kavoor Junction, A.B. Shetty Circle, Navabharath Circle and PVS Circle and end at the Mangala Stadium.

Football trials

The Dakshina Kannada district football team, which will participate in the State Olympic Games at Mandya from February 4, will be chosen at the football ground, Nehru Maidan, Mangalore, on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Interested may contact Hussain Bolar, Secretary, DK District Football Association, ph: 98458 87404.

Carrom tournament

Ashoknagara Yuvaka Sangha will organise an inter-district (DK, Udupi and Kasargod) carrom tournament to mark its 47th anniversary celebration in Mangalore on January 20 and January 27. While the singles event will be held on January 20, the doubles event will be held the following Sunday. Contact Shankar N.
