Niazi, Kamran in Pakistan squad

KARACHI: The Pakistan selectors opted for two rookie pacers in the 15-member squad for the first two ODIs of the five-match series against Zimbabwe from January 21.

Left-arm fast bowlers Samiullah Niazi and Kamran Hussain were picked along with uncapped opener Nasir Jamshed in the squad to be led by a fit-again Shoaib Malik.

The Pakistan Cricket Board said that the doctors had cleared Malik after he made a satisfactory recovery from the injury he suffered on the tour of India.

The squad: Shoaib Malik (Capt.), Younis Khan, Salman Butt, Mohammad Yousuf, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Yasir Arafat, Sohail Tanvir, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Nasir Jamshed, Fawad Alam, Rao Iftikhar, Samiullah Niazi, Kamran Hussain and Kamran Akmal. — PTI
