Jeev, Jyoti, Shiv miss cut
Abu Dhabi: The new year began on a disastrous note for Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur with the Indian trio missing the cut in the Abu Dhabi golf championship here on Friday.
It was a lacklustre show by the Indians, who struggled right from the beginning and made an early exit from the $2 million event.
After a nightmarish opening round of four-over 76 cooked his goose, Jeev returned a one-under 71 but his two-day total of 147 was just not enough to ensure weekend action for him.
It was worse for Randhawa, who carded his second straight round of 75 to total 150 and crash out. He birdied the eighth, 10th and 14th but bogeys on the fourth, sixth, 11th and 17th and a double bogey in between on the 16th, completely derailed his campaign.
Shiv Kapur had a similar story to tell as the Delhi golfer stuttered to a horrendous second round of five-over 77 to aggregate 151 to see his hopes of making the cut going up in smoke. Shiv, a 10th tee starter like his compatriots, birdied the 12th hole but had nothing else to show. His second round card was marred by six bogeys spread evenly on either nine. — PTI
