Manav Das stops Perera
CHANDIGARH: Manav Das stopped Sri Lanka’s Mithun Perera on the 15th hole as three Indians made it to the semifinals in the 107th LG all-India open amateur golf championship here on Friday.
Das was four up with three holes to go as he rounded of the day on a winning note after having faced tense moments in the pre-quarterfinal round earlier in the day.
Malaysia’s Mohammed Arie was the sole outsider still in the fray after he beat H.S. Kang four and three after having put out Chinese Taipei’s Chien Hsien Hsieh by the same margin in the morning.
Arie takes on Rahul Bakshi while Das meets Abhishek Jha in the semifinals on Saturday.
The results: Quarterfinals: Mohammed Arie (Mas) bt H.S. Kang 4 and 3, Rahul Bakshi bt Arshdeep Tiwana 2 and 1, Manav Das bt Mithun Perera (Sri) 4 and 3, Abhishek Jha bt Vikran Rana 20th hole.
Pre-quarterfinals: Arie bt Chien Hsien Hsieh (Tpe) 4 and 3, Kang bt Pawan Kumar 1-up, Bakshi bt Jasjeet Singh 4 and 3, Tiwana bt Navtez Singh 2 and 1, Perera bt Kanishk Madan 2 and 1, Das bt Gagan Verma 2 and 1, Jha bt Siddharth Seth 7 and 5, Rana bt Chandradasa (Sri) 3 and 1.
