Umesh Reddy case adjourned

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Friday adjourned further hearing in the Umesh Reddy death sentence case.

A single judge is hearing the case after a Division Bench came up with a split verdict on the sentence. While one judge on the Bench concurred with the order of a Bangalore court saying that Reddy deserved to be hanged, the other judge had wanted Reddy to be in prison till life.

With the Bench coming up with a split verdict, the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court had referred the case to a third judge for his opinion. The case was posted before Justice S.R. Bannurmath who has adjourned it.
