Deve Gowda hints at Third Front again

Staff Correspondent

KOLAR: The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) chief H.D. Deve Gowda on Thursday hinted at the possibilities of the emergence of a Third Front at the Centre before or after the next parliamentary elections.

However, he will not involve in any exercise to evolve the front as he has to set his house (Janata Dal-S) in order, Mr. Deve Gowda clarified.

He was speaking to reporters here after launching a 60-day State-wide campaign of the party at Mulbagal in the district. Strengthening the party as a precursor to the Assembly polls in the State is the main aim of the campaign, Mr. Deve Gowda said.

The party State unit president Merajuddin Patel and the former Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy, will tour the State later, he added.

Whether his party will go it alone in the Assembly elections, the former Primer Minister replied positively. There is no question of adopting soft corner towards the Congress, he emphasised. Mr. Deve Gowda participated in a party workers’ meet in Kolar.
